Our NAFTA Engineering Technologies group has an opening for an Electrical Engineer with proven and demonstrable success in concept, design, programming, and debugging of machine vision systems. This includes, but not limited to, machine controllers, servo drives, vision systems, robotics and operator interfaces.
This position will be responsible for the specification, design, and implementation of machine vision and control systems for new and existing high-speed lamp manufacturing equipment.
The successful candidate will:
* Develop and install new/enhanced machine vision & control systems while working well with controls, mechanical and process engineering on cross-functional teams on projects of varying scale.
* Assist with difficult troubleshooting on new and existing vision and control systems.
* Evaluate and propose upgrade paths for obsolete equipment.
* Document and train associates on the use and support of new and pre-existing systems.
* Coordinate and direct technicians as required.
PLEASE NOTE: Occasional weekend work (Saturday/Sunday) will be required
Requirements:
* B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science or equivalent. * Working knowledge of applying machine vision technology in a manufacturing environment for: on-line and off-line inspection, vision controlled positioning, defect analysis, and optical character verification. * Working knowledge of machine vision system development and implementation with experience with one of the following vision development software platforms: PCI-Video, Cognex/DVT, Sherlock Vision or equivalent. * Software experience required: Visual Basic/VB.net (Visual Studio) or C/C++ * Strong understanding of cameras, lighting, lenses and the use of optics.* Skills using CAD tools, Microsoft suite of software. * Demonstrated success in applying automated control systems in a manufacturing environment. * Required to stay knowledgeable in the of latest industrial automation technology. * Requires excellent interpersonal skills. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Must know how to write and interpret technical specifications. * Experience with integrating industrial robotics with vision guidance strongly preferred. * Experience with PLC-based controls systems strongly preferred. * Experience with Ethernet based industrial device communication strongly preferred. In addition, the Sr. level position *Requires 5+ years relevant experience, with an in-depth knowledge of applying machine vision technology in a manufacturing environment for: on-line and off-line inspection, vision controlled positioning, defect analysis, and optical character verification. * In-depth knowledge and experience with machine vision systems development and implementation with one of the following vision development software platforms: PCI-Video, Cognex/DVT, Sherlock Vision or equivalent. * Successful integration of PLC-based controls systems and industrial robotics with machine vision. * Experience with Siemens PLC software strongly preferred. * Successful experience in project planning and tracking.
