What you will be doing:
- Manage the development and delivery of our product
- Understand and communicate the key needs of our customers as they affect product design. Champion hardware development to provide innovative, high-quality solutions to customers' needs. Ensure that we positively differentiate our products and ourselves from the competition in product design approaches, commitment to quality, and management style.
- Identify and address issues of manufacturability and requirements for transfer to production throughout the product development process.
- Design prototype tooling for proof-of-concept process development with eye towards production requirements.
- Implement Design for Manufacturing for future process equipment development.
- Strong demonstrated ability to develop plastic and metal housings, micro-electronic packages, connectors, cables and other components.
- Strong demonstrated ability to specify, design, analyze, simulate, prototype, build, test, document and release to manufacturing electro-mechanical systems and processes.
- Skilled at performing tolerance analysis, materials analysis, mechanical loads analysis, stress analysis, thermal analysis, dynamic analysis, and molding analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, track and close out design problems associated with product performance in engineering, manufacturing and the field.
- Contribute to or lead generation of marketing specifications, engineering specifications and reports, feasibility plan/testing/reports, hazard analysis, FMEA-Design/Process/Use.
- Work with the regulatory department to ensure that design specs for the system meet or exceed all applicable environmental and regulatory standards.
- Actively participate in and present at department and Senior Executive level meetings to convey project status, challenges and problem solving strategies and results.
What you need!
- Strong theoretical background with specific knowledge relating to designing metal and injection molded plastic components and housings, elastomers, thermosets, miniature components, electrical contacts and highly reliable miniature electrical cabling assemblies and connectors.
- Experience in waterproofing/sealing techniques is desirable. Knowledge of implantable materials, material bio-compatibility, and regulatory requirements for implantable devices is a plus.
- Strong SolidWorks or other 3-D CAD system experience and FMEA experience
- A record of successful deliverables as a leader, an engineer and an individual contributor to gain the respect and support of peers and subordinate staff.
- Familiarity with PCB assembly and packaging technologies
- MSME or Related
