What you need for this position:
* Education, Experience, and Knowledge
* BS and/or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biology or similar discipline.
* 5+ years software/database development experience in an Oracle RDBMS environment.
* 5+ years developing and maintaining laboratory information management systems, preferably in a life sciences environment.
* Experience managing small and medium size projects.
* Experience with Java, J2EE, Struts.
* Experience in a HIPAA.
* Experience in a scientific discipline (biology, chemistry) is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
* Strong Oracle database development skills (PL/SQL, triggers, views, query development/tuning/optimization, etc.)
* Oracle database administration.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong project management skills.
* Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
* Java, J2EE, Struts.

What you'll be doing:
* Process management - process design, workflow management, metrics development and management, ensure process standards that are implemented are met, and continuous process improvement.
* Contribute as a hands-on software/database development resource.
* Contribute as a database administration resource.
* Determine functional requirements with business operations, translate the requirements into technical and functional specifications.
* Work with laboratory operations to maintain and advance existing laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other systems.
* Work with operations to develop and implement new LIMS.
* Develop and execute software quality assurance test plans.
* Work with laboratory operations to understand and contribute to the advancement of existing, and development of new, systems, processes and workflows.
* Work with the Information Technology team to ensure that an optimal system and network infrastructure is in place to support current and future LIMS.
